About Me

Kat's Fats_39

Well hello there!  Allow me to introduce myself.  I am Kat. Here are a few things to know about me.

I am a happily married mom of two living in south-eastern Pennsylvania.  Although I spent my younger years living it up in the city (NYC and LA) I am now settled down trying to live out my homesteading dreams on a quarter acre.

I love to cook from scratch. I experiment with any sort of kitchen wizardry I can. There is nothing I love more than being able to make it myself. Sometimes I win big (my current love of chicken liver pate and jerky came from my curious experiments) and sometimes I fail big (there was a pretty terrible kombucha explosion which broke a window and took chucks out of my ceiling and walls. I am very lucky no one was downstairs for). No matter what though I greatly enjoy spending a heck of a lot of time in the kitchen.

I love to grow things. Berries are my favorite. I am learning more and more every year making the most of my little piece of earth. I consistently fail at growing carrots but gosh darn it that doesn’t stop my from trying.Kat's Fats_63

I have two little boys. My oldest son happens to have Down Syndrome. He has been the biggest game changer in my life. Both boys are little bundles of energy that keep me on my toes.

I am a woman who, after years of trying to wrestle my relationship with alcohol into some sort of manageable form, has chosen sobriety. I’ve been living life one day at a time since 04/04/18 and it has changed my life in many beautiful ways. I have no problem with other people drinking I just know how my brain works and my brain and alcohol do not mix well.

I am forever entrepreneurial. From the old days as a theater actor to the Etsy shop where I sell vintage clothing and accessories (I get very excited when my stuff ends up in cool places like on the Americans or the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!) to my new adventure in starting a food manufacturing business. It is in my blood to try to hustle. Hustle, that’s what the kids seem to be calling it these days, right?

So there you go. A little bit about old Kat.
